how to celebrate the new year?

there's always been a debate in my mind as to how to ring in the new year. its always been the notion that what you do on the first day is what you will be doing for the next 1 year (broadly speaking). for the last 5 years i have tried different things for this.
The first one was partying on the eve and throughout the night- terrace party where we danced and ate. the next year it was watching a movie 9-12 and then roaming around in CP. the year after that we played cricket in the district park, this was very good as we played throughout the night and slept for most of the day. then, when there was this situation when i had no plans with friends, so i went to rakabganj gurudwara, and listened to gurbani and ate mouth watering food. hot jalebis in the biting cold is one of the delicacies that i love...
then this year it was a trip to one of the great wonders of the world, in my opinion, and even this was awesome, Ajanta and ellora it was. 2 days full of fun.
...
this is my experience with new year's eves, in a nutshell.

sleepless in cyberabad...

Sometimes there is a routine to life, which becomes boring. at other times, when its broken, the same routine feels very good. It feels as if we were going through life's motions without realising what it is all about. but then there comes a time when breaking the routine becomes a routine in itself.
Now what i am talking about, is a routine of sleeping - everyday. i have been doing this all through my life, night after night. childhood to adolescence to college now a full time employee. The only exceptions which are, have been very few. I have slept days and nights days after nights 16 hours at a stretch. but this has never happened. sleep used to be so good after a steel-glass full of lassi. c'mon man, i was famous for sleeping at 10 in the night. this looks like a distant land. a new world, where i dont get to meet sleep. now let me state the fact loud and clear:

this is the 3rd consecutive day for which i haven't slept.

and am living in a world which is not looking very good. at home on my chair i talk to people who are not present. No one knows which conversation i am talking about. they have talked to me, according to me, that is. playing games on the new toy gifted to us by our ann-daata - microsoft, is passing my time. Now, I even tried to use it to tire my eyes, and i started with pervez mussharraf's "in the line of fire" trying to read it under a torch.

But nothing works!
Pray for me. I need sleep...
