balancing act

each and every argument in this world always has 3 sides to it. there are always 3 kinds of reactions to any situation. 2 opposing ones and the indifferent one.

One of the things that i thought about a month ago was that i'll always try to balance out arguments, always providing the 3rd and the most overlooked argument in all the conversations(chaos and conversation seem to be coming from the same root) where i am not one of the parties, which i mostly am not. This has lead to most of the people rubbishing them. It has been very amusing to make statements which i did not believe in at all, and yet i said them just so that i capture all the things that had to be looked at. sometimes these blabbers just made people who were hesistant to make there point come out in support of this. I have done this in my friend circle, office meetings(which i have had many) random-shared auto discussions and just about anywhere.

I started to do this on th 14th april. so its been a month and a week. Its not too easy especially when people think that those are the things that you beleive in, when you are mostly the over-looken's advocate.

P.S. I am not going to write any book titled "my experiments with_______"

bye, sat-sri-akal, namaste, ciao, sayonara, dos-vidaniyan... trying to complete a list here.

What I hate....

Disclaimer:
this post has been written with a very cluttered mind, my intent might be clear to you, but its not organised the way I like to... So bear with me on that.

There comes a time when your ability to synically predict whats going to happen, what someone's going to say, how someone would react to a situation just to get that slight advantage he/she can over others,, makes you get bored of life. Life should be inherently unpredictable, and if you are one of those people who react in that certain way that i deem pitiable, be sure to know that i may be acting good in your face but that is not the real me. You'll never get to know who I really am.

I can and have been a friend to those who have never had that 2-faced approach to situations. Even if it favours me i wont take the favours, or be at the recieving end of your scorn. the thing is that I dont really care abut anything trivial in life. All that I care about is people who have a certain noble goal in their minds and are earnestly working towards it. that might be to support your family, make them happy, or trying to educate people to save the environment or something similar. If you are one of those brats who love having an orgasm at every pretty-cute-fancy things that you see all around you (in those freaking malls, which are more for making the next generation more americanised rather than developed), then you fall into the above bracket.

now, there might be little ambiguity in the rant written above. here I have gone ahead and written about what irks me about people all around me. this might be my first public reaction to things that i see too blatantly spreading more and more into the people all around. But i have thought about it. and the answer as it might be clear from above, in simple words is "I dont like it"..."at all".

Thanks for reading this post. If you find yourself among those I hate, either mend your ways, or Buzz off!

those were the days...

those were the day- one of the most used phrases by anyone who is not as happy with the present as he thinks he was in those times...
Life moves on, so at one point or the other you are bound to use these phrase. Out of these times the days that i remember are those when i played cricket or football quite regularly. this particular post talks about the time we were in school cllas VI or V. we regularly used to play cricket during the summer vacations (may-june).

those were the days... when 4 runs on the last ball meant pressure, there were jokes about pressure and relieving it. those were days when hitting a six meant hitting so carefully as to not reach the fountain lest the ball get wet, but yet reach that boundary. those were the days... when bowling someone with a fast yorker gave you the feeling that you were Akram(it still does give me that feeling).
Those were the days when I used to wake up everyone for a match as though it were a Indo-Pak world cup final - 5 in the morning.
Those were the days... when we played matches and the winning team won a cricket-ball, those were the days... when they had to wait for the losing team to get money from their parents to buy that 60-rupee ball. we used to sit,doze-around, wait 3-4 hours in the playground to get that coveted ball, in the famous heat of delhi, drinking bunta on our way back home. listening to angered parents and then smiling at our achievements.
On the losing side, my team had this very careful little genious, he used to keep all the balls we had won, and just bring them instantly when we lost a match - no begging our parents :)(bigger smiley needed). these were the people i gelled most with, yet to find such an atmosphere anywhere else in the world, where everyone is playing with their hearts and wants to win.....

Those were the Days... More such posts coming...

Emotions

Emotions are generally not what people associate with me. In my opinion i am seen as a person who you cant talk to, about them. So this is a monologue which might interest you to let out your emotional side with me. :-)
For a long time I have been thinking about emotions as a subject. emotions are what control most of our actions. however shrewd/calculating or practical we might think of ourselves as, the most important of the decisions take are driven by emotions. now once we accept this fact, all we have to under which emotions should we take decisions and under which we need to delay these decisions.
this is what I follow-a somewhat counter-intuitive thing that I think I learnt sub-consciously from my Father(who is the greatest personality I have come across in the last 22 years).
any kind of extreme is bad for health, of mind body and spirit(as a very dear friend will put it)
Under extreme emotions, all that we need to do is train our mind to delay any actions/decisions that you are going to undertake. These may be any decisions, small or big, personal/work-related.
under any extreme emotional burst all you have to do is lie low, don't talk too much and try to surround yourselves with people who'll not ask about it. even if anyone asks about a sudden change in behavior, just let them know that you dont want to talk about it. This may be accomplished with a little ease if you have friends who'll understand your body language.
on the other hand mild emotions are what are required to go forward in a particular direction, these emotions are what you need as a leap of faith to go ahead and do the next thing on your mind.

that is just my way of dealing with my emotions, of course I slip and let loose sometimes.
In general, it is not a good idea to let anyone out of a close group of friends/ family to know about your emotions on a particular matter. Facebook(everybody's favorite topic) might prove to be a big bane if you unleash your emotions there.

how to celebrate the new year?

there's always been a debate in my mind as to how to ring in the new year. its always been the notion that what you do on the first day is what you will be doing for the next 1 year (broadly speaking). for the last 5 years i have tried different things for this.
The first one was partying on the eve and throughout the night- terrace party where we danced and ate. the next year it was watching a movie 9-12 and then roaming around in CP. the year after that we played cricket in the district park, this was very good as we played throughout the night and slept for most of the day. then, when there was this situation when i had no plans with friends, so i went to rakabganj gurudwara, and listened to gurbani and ate mouth watering food. hot jalebis in the biting cold is one of the delicacies that i love...
then this year it was a trip to one of the great wonders of the world, in my opinion, and even this was awesome, Ajanta and ellora it was. 2 days full of fun.
...
this is my experience with new year's eves, in a nutshell.

sleepless in cyberabad...

Sometimes there is a routine to life, which becomes boring. at other times, when its broken, the same routine feels very good. It feels as if we were going through life's motions without realising what it is all about. but then there comes a time when breaking the routine becomes a routine in itself.
Now what i am talking about, is a routine of sleeping - everyday. i have been doing this all through my life, night after night. childhood to adolescence to college now a full time employee. The only exceptions which are, have been very few. I have slept days and nights days after nights 16 hours at a stretch. but this has never happened. sleep used to be so good after a steel-glass full of lassi. c'mon man, i was famous for sleeping at 10 in the night. this looks like a distant land. a new world, where i dont get to meet sleep. now let me state the fact loud and clear:

this is the 3rd consecutive day for which i haven't slept.

and am living in a world which is not looking very good. at home on my chair i talk to people who are not present. No one knows which conversation i am talking about. they have talked to me, according to me, that is. playing games on the new toy gifted to us by our ann-daata - microsoft, is passing my time. Now, I even tried to use it to tire my eyes, and i started with pervez mussharraf's "in the line of fire" trying to read it under a torch.

But nothing works!
Pray for me. I need sleep...

Catch 22

i had read catch 22 a while back, and was wondering what are the we situations we face it in.....
so here are some situations that I have felt many people go through

If you are not well and dont tell anybody and things get out out of hand, you are blamed for not sharing your feelings. On the othyer hand if you complain of not being too well, people will call you naazuk. Either way it is the suffering person who ,well , suffers even due to things other than the illness..

Another one

We read a poem in class VIII by ogden nash(something like "one more time...") where he is stuck in a similar situation....he goes to the dentist and gets treatment. he is happy that his problem has been fixed.... BUT then(here comes the catch 22) the dentist advises him to visit him every 6 months so that he can stay away from other tooth problems...The poet's main aim of visiting the dentist was to get rid of his problems, so that he doesn't have to visit the dentist again, for which he has to visit the dentist regularly.
this is a situation faced by anybody who has tooth problems

yet another one

This one's on a bigger scale.
India's population is growing at a rapid rate and this is a reason why the government is not able to educate the masses. On the other hand elementary education is required to be able to stop this population explosion.again we have a deadlock.
this situation can be dealt with though, by educating the mothers in all families.

The all encompassing one.......

Life is a catch. One is born into this world to enjoy its beauty and live life happily. yet all religions teach us abstinence. they say that telling a lie is a sin, it can bring no happiness. If a person gets happiness by telling a lie, he can very well argue that, telling a lie, is not a sin after all.
